Pelvic Doppler Ultrasound

Color Doppler ultrasound of the uterus, ovaries, and pelvic vessels, assessing both structure and blood flow in detail.

What Is a Pelvic Doppler Ultrasound?

Pelvic Doppler ultrasound is an examination performed to evaluate blood flow in the uterus, ovaries, and surrounding vascular structures of the female pelvis. Thanks to Doppler technology, not only the structure of the organs but also their blood flow characteristics can be examined in detail.

What Is Assessed?

  • Blood supply of the uterus
  • Vascular structure of the ovaries
  • Blood flow characteristics of ovarian cysts
  • Circulation in the pelvic vessels
  • Vascularization features of suspicious masses

When Is It Performed?

  • Lower abdominal or groin pain
  • Evaluation of an ovarian cyst
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Suspected pelvic mass
  • Gynecological findings requiring follow-up
  • Evaluation before or after treatment

How Is the Examination Performed?

Pelvic Doppler ultrasound is usually performed through the abdomen (transabdominal) or, when necessary, by the transvaginal approach. During the examination, blood flow within the vessels is assessed with the Doppler method and the circulation characteristics of the organs are examined in detail. The procedure is painless and involves no radiation.

Why Is Pelvic Doppler Important?

In some cases the structural appearance of the organs alone does not provide enough information. Doppler examination allows blood supply characteristics to be assessed, enabling a more accurate clinical interpretation and helping avoid unnecessary further testing.

At our clinic in Bakırköy, ultrasound and Doppler examinations are performed by Dr. Ahsen Bakan for patients from Istanbul, from other cities across Turkey, and from abroad.
